Land O’ Lakes Woman Charged with Killing Her Own Child Today

PASCO COUNTY, Fla. — A Land O’ Lakes woman has been arrested after deputies discovered her son dead inside their home Friday morning, according to the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to a residence on Drexel Road around 9:50 a.m. after 40-year-old Justine Mroz reportedly called dispatch to report the incident. Mroz’s juvenile son was deceased.

Detectives began an immediate investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death. While the exact manner of death remains under investigation, officials confirmed the case is being treated as an isolated incident and that there is no ongoing threat to the public.

Later that day, Pasco County Sheriff investigators arrested Mroz and charged her with second-degree homicide in connection with her son’s death.

Authorities have not released the child’s name or additional details regarding the cause of death as the investigation remains active.
