Pasco County deputies who responded to reports of multiple gunshots near Pinehurst Drive in Beacon Square on a recent afternoon determined the noise came from people firing weapons in a backyard, according to the Pasco Sheriff's Office. No one was hurt, and investigators say there is no threat to the surrounding neighborhood.
The Sheriff's Office said deputies received calls around 4:05 p.m. after residents in the area heard several shots. When deputies arrived, they located the people responsible and detained them without any further incident.
Preliminary information indicates the individuals had been shooting weapons in their own backyard, the Sheriff's Office said. There were no reported injuries.

Officials described it as an isolated incident and said there is no ongoing public safety threat to Beacon Square or nearby streets. The investigation remains open, and the Sheriff's Office said no additional details were available.
Beacon Square is a residential, unincorporated community of roughly 8,000 people in southwest Pasco County, made up largely of tightly spaced single-story homes. In that kind of setting, the sound of gunfire understandably draws quick calls to deputies — even when, as in this case, it turns out to be people discharging firearms on their own property rather than a violent crime.
Discharging a firearm in a densely populated residential area can carry legal consequences in Florida, and it routinely prompts emergency calls from neighbors. Residents with questions about where and how firearms may lawfully be used are encouraged to contact the Pasco Sheriff's Office directly.
Anyone who witnesses activity they believe is a genuine emergency should call 911. Non-emergency concerns and tips can be reported to the Pasco Sheriff's Office through its official channels at pascosheriff.com.
