HOLIDAY, Fla. — Boaters heading to Anclote River Park will soon notice major improvements underway, as Pasco County begins replacing all of the park’s existing docks with brand-new, full-floating docks designed to enhance safety and accessibility on the water.
The Pasco County Parks, Recreation, and Natural Resources Department (PRNR) announced this week that work has officially started on the dock replacement project at the popular west Pasco park. The new floating docks are built to rise and fall with changing tides and water levels, providing a safer and more reliable experience for boaters throughout the year.
“While some ramps will remain open during the day, visitors should expect delays,” PRNR said in a public update. “Mooring docks may also close at times depending on the construction schedule.”
The project is part of an ongoing effort by the county to upgrade recreational infrastructure at high-traffic waterfront parks. Anclote River Park, located at 1119 Baillies Bluff Road in Holiday, features a six-lane boat ramp, swimming area, playground, and picnic shelters. The park is one of Pasco’s busiest boating destinations, offering direct access to the Gulf of Mexico and nearby Anclote Key.
According to county bid documents, the project includes removing existing pilings and docks and installing a modern, full-floating dock system. Floating docks are considered more durable and adaptable than traditional fixed structures, particularly in coastal areas affected by tides and storms.
The park’s boat ramps will continue operating during construction, though boaters are urged to plan ahead and anticipate limited access or short-term closures as work progresses.
Once completed, the upgrades are expected to provide safer mooring, smoother boat launches, and longer-lasting infrastructure for the hundreds of boaters who use the park each week.
Anclote River Park is open daily, and boat ramp access is available 24 hours a day. Parking fees are $10 per day, with annual ramp passes available for $75 for Pasco residents and $100 for non-residents.
