Walmart’s drone delivery is heading to Pasco County

PASCO COUNTY, FL - Walmart is moving closer to bringing drone delivery to several Pasco County stores through its partnership with Wing, a drone delivery company owned by Alphabet. The service is designed to deliver small orders in about 30 minutes to customers who live within roughly six miles of a participating store.

Locally, early filings point to the Walmart Neighborhood Market near Ridge Road and Little Road in New Port Richey as the first Pasco site in line. According to plans shared publicly this week, documents were submitted to Pasco County last Tuesday for a new drone delivery site at that location, with Wing listed as the operator. A construction start date has not been announced.

Walmart’s broader rollout with Wing has been expanding fast, including plans announced for major metro areas such as Orlando and Tampa. Walmart has said Wing operates its aircraft within FAA guidelines and can fly beyond visual line of sight, which is a key piece of scaling the service.

How Wing drone delivery works

In markets where Wing and Walmart are already operating, customers place an order, select drone delivery when eligible, and the drone flies out from the store area and completes the drop without landing. Wing’s drones typically lower the package on a tether to a spot like a yard or driveway. The service is meant for lightweight, quick need items, not full grocery hauls.

Wing and Walmart have described a delivery radius of about six miles from the store, and reports on the service note delivery times often around 30 minutes or less for addresses inside the coverage area.

What the drone “site” looks like at the store

Wing’s Walmart setups generally include dedicated equipment in the parking lot area. Across multiple jurisdictions, the system is often described as having a “nest” for charging and storing drones, and an “autoloader” area where orders are staged and attached for flight. FAA environmental documents for Wing’s Central Florida operations also describe nest and autoloader infrastructure as part of how the network is built out.

Pasco County timeline, what’s expected next

Based on current planning and early site activity, Walmart drone delivery is expected to reach multiple Pasco County locations in the first half of 2026. The New Port Richey area is expected to go first, with the Little Road and State Road 54 area leading the rollout. Lutz, Hudson, and Zephyrhills locations are also expected to follow as the program expands locally.

For residents, the next visible steps will likely be permitting activity, parking lot site work, and an official “service live” announcement once Wing completes setup and flight approvals for each store area. Until then, availability will remain address based, and only customers within the coverage radius with qualifying baskets will see the drone option when it launches.
