Alston Tract east of Zephyrhills closes Oct. 27-29 for hog hunt
Southwest Florida Water Management District says the Alston Tract at Upper Hillsborough Preserve will be closed to the public Oct. 27-29 for a feral hog hunt, including the equestrian access and primitive camping areas.

What is closed
The Alston Tract at 42144 Deems Road in Zephyrhills is closed to the public Oct. 27-29 for hunting, according to Southwest Florida Water Management District notices. The tract page says it is part of Upper Hillsborough Preserve.
The closure covers the Alston Equestrian Access and Alston Equestrian/Primitive Camping areas.
Why the district is closing it
The district says its hog hunts are meant to reduce the feral hog population, and district-managed properties are temporarily closed during the hunts; only permitted hunters may enter. It says this is the 18th consecutive year, and last year’s hunts removed 795 hogs on 14 tracts.
