Pasco approves new golf-cart rules for some trails and county roads
According to local media, Pasco County commissioners unanimously approved a new golf-cart framework Tuesday that covers certain paved multi-use trails and some county roads in unincorporated Pasco.

Pasco County commissioners unanimously approved new golf-cart rules Tuesday that expand where carts can be used in unincorporated Pasco, according to local media. The board approved an ordinance for multi-use trails and a separate resolution for certain county roads, while the county will also have to publish a Golf Cart Network map showing the approved routes.
What changed
The new framework limits expanded golf-cart use to paved multi-use trails that are generally at least 10 feet wide and connected to a county road or state highway. Those trails still need county authorization, so the approval is not a blanket green light for every trail in the county.
The ordinance also keeps golf carts on roads where they were already allowed and gives the county engineer authority to approve new roadways for golf carts based on criteria such as traffic flow and speed. According to local media, county leaders also folded eight older trail-designation resolutions, some dating to 1988, into one unified resolution.
Why it matters
For residents, the practical change is a route-by-route system rather than an assumption that golf carts can go anywhere in a neighborhood or on any paved path. The county memo cited in local media said officials wanted clearer standards to improve safety around golf carts, bicycles and pedestrians.
