A new Walmart is set to rise at the corner of State Road 56 and Morris Bridge Road, marking another major retail addition to Wesley Chapel’s fast-growing east side.
According to public development records, the project has been approved and will serve as a convenient shopping hub for residents in nearby communities such as Two Rivers, Epperson, and Watergrass. The site, positioned near the eastern edge of the State Road 56 corridor, fills a gap in retail options for thousands of households that currently travel several miles west for groceries and other essentials.
While Walmart has not yet announced an opening date, planning documents show the project was submitted and approved in late 2025. Early site work is expected to begin sometime in 2026, with construction and store details to follow once permitting is finalized.
The new store is expected to offer a full-service shopping experience including groceries, household goods, pharmacy services, and general merchandise. Final design plans, including store size and layout, have not yet been released.
Local officials and residents say the development reflects the continued growth along the SR 56 corridor, which has rapidly transformed over the past few years with new housing, restaurants, and commercial centers. The addition of Walmart is expected to bring both convenience and employment opportunities to the area.
As construction progresses, more details on the store’s timeline and hiring plans will be made available.
